Dating In The 21st Century
There are more people searching for a romantic partner than at any time in history.
- First, there is the current generation of teenagers and 20-somethings looking for romance. Because people are living at home longer and marrying later, many of these people are looking for love and/or sex but not necessarily marriage at this stage. So they go through a number of relationships - often in very quick turnaround time.
- Next is the more mature group looking for Mister or Miz Right. These people would be quite willing to give up their singles lifestyles if the right person came along.
- Then there are the young divorced people whose marriages have lasted perhaps 5-7 years. Mostly they are still in their twenties and thirties, not too far removed from the dating scene.
- There are also older divorced people, many finding themselves single after 20-30 years of marriage. These people in their forties and fifties can find dating again intimidating. For them it's a new game with new rules.
- Finally, there are older widowed people in their sixties, seventies and eighties. For many of them, romantic love is no longer an option. Others believe that while there's life, there's hope, and many of them find love for the second or third time in their lives.
So dating is not the same for everyone. Each of these age groups have different questions and concerns. We will look at all of them on this site.
